2018 Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic - Schedule of Events

Anticipation is building for the 16th annual Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic at Sandestin Resort. Last year they set a record with 85 boats registered, this year is expected to be even higher. The Blue Marlin Classic is far from a local event, attracting entries throughout south eastern United States.

Changes to the 2018 event include a new minimum length requirement at 107 inches. This is an effort to help conserve some of the smaller, juvenile marlin. The Blue Marlin Classic runs from June 20-24, but the actual fishing begins at noon June 21 ending on the 23rd. Boats take off from Destin Pass after the horn blasts. Weigh-ins take place Friday and Saturday evenings.

It's Time to Retire to a Destin, Florida Golf Community

Looking to retire in a Florida golf community? Some of the best golf course homes are right here in Destin, Niceville and along the Scenic Highway 30A. In Destin and the surrounding Emerald Coast, there were 70 golf course homes sold from January to the end of April in 2018. Destin & 30A Real Estate Stats - 1st Quarter 2018

Thinking of buying or listing a home or condo in Destin or along the 30A? The following stats show you the top selling markets, overall sales stats comparing the 1st quarter in 2017 vs 2017, and where we've seen the highest price increases.

2018 1st Quarter Condo Sales for Destin & 30A

Condos in the Destin and 30A area saw more substantial increases with a 21% gain overall in average condo prices. Several areas saw huge price increases including: 30A East (+71%), 30A West (+35%), Miramar/Sandestin Resort (+31%), and Niceville (+13%). There were 500 condos sold in the first quarter 2018 for an average 96% of list price.

The highest price condo sold was $2,200,000 in Sanctuary by the Sea.
